About
Macsween of Edinburgh is a third-generation family business that is passionate about making great-tasting innovative food ethically and sustainably. We turnover $7.9m (£5.8m) and the business employees 50 staff. We distribute within the UK and export to seven different countries, including Canada and the USA.
We supply all the UK's major supermarkets, food service, and wholesale operators, M&S, Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Bidfood, Booker, Brakes & Costco. We operate out of an A+ Version 8 BRC manufacturing site in Scotland, the UK where we lovingly produce our award-winning products.
We have a variety of recognised certifications, Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Coeliac & RSPO. At Macsween of Edinburgh, we are not only known around the world for our famous haggis but we also been making our award-winning Veggie Crumble since 1984 when my father John Macsween invented it. Today we are looking to attract a larger share of the rapidly growing Plant-based, Flexitarian, Vegetarian and Vegan market. We decided to internationalise our products and increase our exports sales, and our Veggie Crumble sells over $1.3M (£1M), and we have over 60% market share.
Our consumers would care about the ingredients they eat; they are looking for products free from ALL ALLERGENS. They may also be following vegetarian, vegan or plant-based diets and are looking for a superior quality alternative to the highly processed offerings that are currently on the market. We are 100% FREE-FROM, VEGAN CERTIFIED, RSPO and GLUTEN FREE CERTIFIED.
